About Purple Truffle

The name Purple Truffle came about one evening while making risotto for a dinner party.

The dish was missing white truffle shavings, which led our founder Bonnie Brayham to the kind of epiphany that only happens when good food and wine are involved: what if the real value in travel isn’t always in finding exactly what you’re looking for, but in the journey you take while searching for it?

A purple truffle may not exist, but the adventure of trying to find one would certainly be unforgettable, which is exactly the spirit behind every Purple Truffle trip.

We’re constantly searching for extraordinary places, unforgettable meals, and experiences you won’t find on any standard itinerary. The world is full of hidden gems, and tracking them down never gets old. In fact, it’s the part we enjoy the most.

About Bonnie Brayham

Born in San Francisco to an American mother and a British father, Bonnie Brayham grew up in Santa Cruz along the Northern California coast, which is a very scenic place to develop a lifelong inability to stay in one place.

Summers in Europe with her family, combined with growing up around the airline industry, meant travel wasn’t just a hobby—it was practically part of the family business. Somewhere between airport terminals, long dinners, and wandering through markets in foreign cities, she developed a lasting fascination with different cultures, especially the ones that embrace the epicurean side of life.

After more than a decade working in tech PR and the corporate world, mostly based in Paris and traveling throughout Europe, Bonnie began to suspect that endless meetings, slide decks, and polite conference calls might not be her life’s true calling.

The idea of building something of her own—something that combined travel, adventure, food, wine, and the joy of discovering places most people have never heard of—started as a daydream and slowly became a plan that refused to go away.

“I find it truly delightful how the right pairing of food, wine and a bit of spontaneity will open people’s minds and nourish their spirit.”
